Almost 30 years ago the Mel Gibson, Tina Turner, and Angry Anderson starring ‘Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome’ was released with direction by George Miller marking the completion of a trilogy that began in 1979, though there was little that felt “complete” about the Mad Max series. With Mel Gibson off the series, Tom Hardy is taking over as the leading man, and the new film ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ is well and truly on the way following several false starts over the years.
It has been announced that after pre-production began in Australia, and with a subsequent shift to Namibia and South Africa, principal photography on the film has wrapped after a six-month period.
Post-production on the film is intended to occur in Australia, the film is targeting a 2014 release window.
