As George Lucas stepped in front of the media to promote his new film STRANGE MAGIC (which is based on a Lucas story and can potentially be seen as the last of the Lucas-involved Lucasfilm projects) he revealed he is just as much in the dark about the new STAR WARS flick as us!
Before selling Lucasfilm to Disney, George Lucas had planned to oversee the seventh STAR WARS movie. He even provided the new team with a set of outlines he had written prior to the sale of his company. But now that THE FORCE AWAKENS is in the hands of J.J. Abrams, Lucas says he has seen the film’s trailer, but doesn’t have any idea what the new story is.
So….basically the STAR WARS creator doesn’t know any more about the new movie than the rest of us do!
Interestingly, this seems to excite Lucas:
“I haven’t seen anything,” he said in an interview with Screen Rant. “I mean I saw the trailer, it looks great, it looks interesting. But as I’ve said before: One thing I regret about STAR WARS is that I never got to see it you know? I never got to be blown away by the big ship coming over the thing or anything. But this time I’m going to be, because I have no idea what they’re doing.”
Let’s hope he (and we!) aren’t disappointed.
