The 70th Golden Globe Awards Ceremony is upon us and the nominees have been announced. 

 

The first Golden Globe Awards ceremony was held in 1944 at the 20th Century Fox studios. It recognises excellence and achievements in film and TV both domestic and  internationally. There are awards for acting (both for film and TV), directing, writing, animation, TV, film scores and original songs. 

 

All up, LINCOLN leads with seven nominations, ARGO and DJANGO UNCHAINED have five each, while LES MISERABLES, SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK and ZERO DARK THIRTY have four each.

I think the list of nominees this year is great and they definitely deserve to be recognised. There are a few films on the list that haven’t been released in Australia yet and it will be interested to see whether or not the nomination will create a higher expectation for the particular film.

 

To conclude, I’m excited to see Tarantino and Spielberg still going strong with their filmmaking and there seems to be no clear winner in most of the categories. Are any of your favourites nominated?
