Gollum takes on Mickey Mouse in a race to get a shiny new version of Rudyard Kipling’s THE JUNGLE BOOK onto the big screen.
It never ceases to amaze me: The cast member whose career was arguably most powerfully launched by THE LORD OF THE RINGS, was the guy whose actual face was on screen for a grand total of six minutes. But there you have it. Andy Serkis is apparently ‘The Man’.
After a surprise turn as second unit director for THE HOBBIT trilogy, Serkis is stepping up to full-blown director for Warner Bros. helming a live-action JUNGLE BOOK flick.
The movie comes just in time to rival a similar project in the works by Disney, with IRON MAN’s Jon Favreau rumoured to direct.
Serkis will also produce, teaming up with HARRY POTTER screenwriter Steve Kloves.
You gotta have balls to take on Mickey! And with some of THE HOBBIT scenes he directed not quite ‘up to par’ by my book, Serkis; I wish you luck!
