According to David Goyer, a Green Lantern film is still on the way, but timing isn’t certain.
David Goyer, one of the creative influences on Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy and the current DC Film Universe, having worked on Man of Steel, and Dawn of Justice as a key writer, thinks a Green Lantern film is still in the works.
Following Justice League’s disappointing run at the box office, there has been yet another shake up in in the creative leads on the DC Film universe and other than the tent pole releases of Aquaman (already in post-production) and Wonder Woman 2 (which was guaranteed after the first film) the future of all these DC projects has been left a bit uncertain.
Goyer has described the latest shake up guiding the DC film universe as “a re-calibration”, he’s also further commented that while it’s difficult to talk about exact timing of a Green Lantern film, that one is still in the pipeline. Previous reports have suggested that a new Green Lantern film would be focused a little more on the Green Lantern Corps, and therefore exploring a number of Green Lantern characters rather than focusing on one specific Lantern such as Hal Jordan.
But with the film not estimated for release anytime soon, creative direction on the project could really go in any direction. Perhaps the future of some of these DC Films will become a bit more certain after Aquaman reaches cinemas at the end of 2018 depending on it’s own performance at the box office.
