Author and star of The Room, Greg Sestero, will tour Sydney, Perth and Melbourne between 17-24 November to celebrate the release of James Franco’s critically acclaimed film THE DISASTER ARTIST, based upon Sestero and Tom Bissell’s bestselling memoir on the making of the 2003 cult classic The Room.
The Disaster Artist will have its Australian Premiere at Sydney’s Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace before it departs for further Q&A screenings around the country including Perth’s Luna Cinemas Leederville on the 19 & 20 November. Sestero’s original book tour had sold-out Q&A sessions in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
In his movie, director James Franco (As I Lay Dying, Child of God) transforms the tragicomic true-story of aspiring filmmaker and infamous Hollywood outsider Tommy Wiseau—an artist whose passion was as sincere as his methods were questionable—into a celebration of friendship, artistic expression, and dreams pursued against insurmountable odds. The result is a hilarious and welcome reminder that there is more than one way to become a legend—and no limit to what you can achieve when you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing.
The film stars Dave Franco as Greg Sestero, James Franco as Tommy Wiseau, Seth Rogen, Alison Brie, Ari Graynor, Josh Hutcherson and Academy Award nominee Jacki Weaver. Rapturously received when premiered at the South By Southwest festival, the movieis considered a contender in the upcoming awards season and has been widely acclaimed by critics.
Tickets are now on sale for the premiere Q&A screening event at Luna Cinema Leederville; Sunday 19 and Monday 20 November at 6.30pm. Further details here.
