As we edge ever so closer to the next Star Wars film “Rogue One”, the first of the Star Wars standalone stories, the following anthology film (i.e. the one to follow Star Wars: Episode VIII) has just momentarily stolen the spotlight!
Lucasfilm has found its new actor to portray Han Solo with none other than Alden Ehrenreich. One of the all-time most beloved characters in cinematic history Han Solo has been recast, to pave the way for a new film that will focus on the character early in his career, possibly before he even meets Luke Skywalker – though plot details are scarce.
Ehrenreich, born in 1989 starred in 2013’s Beautiful Creatures, and more recently in the Coen Brother’s “Hail, Caesar !“ along with George Clooney and Josh Brolin.
The Han Solo film has been written by father and son team Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, with this being Lawrence’s fourth Star Wars film. We’ve previously seen reports of Lucasfilm auditioning thousands of actors to pick up this role after Harrison Ford, other names considered included Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Miles Teller, and Jack Reynor.
With this casting announcement, there’s speculation that the character may appear in this year’s Star Wars: Rogue One just as a cameo, no doubt they’ll keep that under wraps until the film is released.
