WHAT HAPPENED TO MONDAY? This one had us intrigued. Accessreel loves a bit of dystopian sci-fi. We just bumped into this on the inter-webs and thought it looked mighty interesting.
The official blurb goes like this: “In a world where families are limited to one child due to overpopulation, a set of identical septuplets must avoid being put to a long sleep by the government while investigating the disappearance of one of their own.” And get this, those seven sisters (all played by Noomi Rapace) are named after the days of the week—hence that cracking title!
Yeah, fangirls and boys, we thought of television’s Orphan Black, too, but Tommy Wirkola is the director responsible for this clone-tastic future. You may recall that Wirkola directed DEAD SNOW (2009) about the Nazi Zombies and so we keep a weather-eye on his output.
WHAT HAPPENED TO MONDAY? (known as SEVEN SISTERS in certain markets) goes some way to explaining how so many recent films have Noomi Rapace in them. Unless we’re mixing her up with Rooney Mara. The movie opens in France and Greece in August. An Australian date is yet to be announced. Netflix has purchased streaming rights. Now watch that trailer.
