There’s no doubt HOT TUB TIME MACHINE was an entertaining film back in 2010. It’s funny one liners and great cast makes it the perfect movie night with a couple of friends.
The cast will consist of the same main actors (Craig Robinson, Clark Duke and Rob Corddry) with the exception of John Cusack who will not be appearing in the sequel. Instead, Adam Scott has been cast as Cusacks son, ten years in the future. “His son that was conceived in 1986 on the night with Jenny Stedmeyer” says Corddry.
HOT TUB TIME MACHINE was made for approximately $36 million and gained around $64.5 million at the box office. Not a massive success, but it still made back its budget and I still hear the film get quoted today. Since the first film wasn’t a huge box office success, the budget may be smaller than the first film. Although, after the exposure of the first film, I doubt it will fail at the box office.
Steve Pink is back to direct the sequel. After directing the first film, it would make sense for him to direct the second. Direction, character development and the narratives objective will be clearly understood and more focus can be placed on the technicalities and minor adjustments that can often be missed.
Filming is bound to start soon. What are your thoughts on the sequel?
