Indiana Jones V

Indiana Jones V

News around Indiana Jones V keeps trickling through, nothing seems to be very concrete yet but as the news keeps coming it would seem there is some momentum building on the project. The latest report comes from showbizspy who reports that Shia LaBeouf is likely to once again star with Harrison Ford in the next instalment.

LaBeouf has stated that he’s excited to reprise the role of Mutt Williams, that scripting is currently underway and that ‘it sounds crazy, it sounds really cool.’

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crustal Skull, released in 2008 went on to gross $786 million world wide so it makes financial sense that they would consider another sequel. Indy IV however was not without its criticisms particularly regarding the Mutt Williams character as well as the commonly referred to scene involving a nuclear warhead being detonated and a flying fridge.

Harrison Ford delivered a classic performance in the role again though I couldn’t help feel that despite all the work done to capture the era of the new setting that it had just been left too long for the sequel to come out. I still enjoy many aspects of the film though by the last act there were too many disappointing moments which then started to build up and detract from the overall film.

Given the early stages of pre-production don’t expect to see another sequel for a few years yet, Shia LaBeouf can be seen on screen later in September when ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ is released in Australian theatres.

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
