Iron Man 3 – 2nd Biggest Opening Ever

Iron Man 3 – 2nd Biggest Opening Ever

The figures are in! Tony Stark and his most impressive Mark 42 hit US screens this weekend to great success, outstripping even Harry Potter to score the second highest opening of all time.

As posted on AccessReel last week, Iron Man 3 topped The Avengers  in foreign markets, achieving record-breaking international opening figures.

Yet the release of Iron Man 3 on US screens has caused a back flip, with Iron Man 3 coming out with a $175 million American opening, while The Avengers remains on top with their impressive $207 million.

This rates the latest Iron Man flick as the second highest film opening of all time.

Iron man 3’s worldwide takings now stand at around $680 million which is already greater than the figures for the entire theatrical run of the first Iron Man film (which made $585 million worldwide).

Sian's love for movies spawned from having a tight mother whose generosity stretched only to hiring movies once a week for entertainment. As a pre-teen Sian spent more pocket money then she earned on cinema tickets and thus sought a job at the cinema. Over the next decade she rose to be one of the greats in her backwater, six-screen cinema complex, zooming through the ranks from candy bar wench with upselling superpowers, to pasty projectionist, to a manager rocking a pencil skirt. Sian went on to study Journalism at university though feels her popcorn shovelling days were far more educational
