J.K Rowling makes her debut with screen writing

Harry Potter fans get excited! Although there won’t be another Harry Potter film, Warner Bros has announced a new (but familiar) film written by J.K Rowling.

“Warner Bros. announced on 12th September 2013 that J.K Rowling would be making her screenwriting debut with FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM. The first in a new film series which is part of their expanded creative partnership with J.K Rowling.” This was written on her Facebook page last Thursday and has now had over eighty thousand likes. Rowling said it all started when Warner Bros. confronted her and asked if she ever thought about turning the story in to a film. “…the idea of seeing Newt Scamander, the supposed author of FANTASTIC BEASTS, realised by another writer was difficult. Having lived so long in my fictional universe, I feel very protective of it and I already knew a lot about Newt.”

No doubt Rowling is a great novelist, but how will she do with writing a screenplay? It will be interesting to see how Rowling portrays her own work of art on screen and what she will include in the screenplay.

Rowling explained the film will be inspired by Harry Potters Hogwarts textbook under the same name, it will also include the books fictional author, Newt Scamander. The film wont include Harry, Ron or Hermione, but will be set within the same world so expect to see a lot of similarities. Newts story will begin in New York some seventy years before Potters.

“I always said that I would only revisit the wizarding world if I had an idea that I was really excited about and this is it.”

Stacey's favourite films include: Titanic (1997), Cast Away (2000), Moulin Rouge (2001), The Notebook (2004), Kill Bill vol.1 and 2 (2003, 2004), Ruby Sparks (2012) and the list goes on.
