Jason Bourne Setting to Continue….

The most recent Bourne film didn’t do a huge amount to revive the series on the big screen, despite the hype around Damon and Greengrass returning to the franchise, the film was ultimately a disappointment to audiences and critics alike.

Two years later and no further film appears to be in development, however this universe will continue to be explored on TV, through a series which has been ordered straight to a full season.

Treadstone: USA, is the name of the show which will be firmly set in the Jason Bourne universe, it is reported the show will center on Operation Treadstone, which if you recall from the films was a secret Government program tasked with the job of creating compliant but highly effective spies and assassins.

Tim Kring the creator of the superhero show “Heroes” is on board to write and executive produce, season 1 is supposed to follow a number of Treadstone operatives, as they are activated for various missions.

Don’t get overly excited just yet however, despite the full season order, the show isn’t scheduled to begin production until 2019, which means there’s a least a one year wait before we might have a chance of seeing how this project turns out. Given the level of audience familiarity with the films, it’s easy to image the show will strive to capture that same tone and aesthetic, simply on the small screen and perhaps with more complex plots which episodic storytelling excels at.

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
