jOBS Release Date Deferred

The biopic jOBS starring Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs has been shown at the Sundance film festival where it received mixed reviews, in fact the film is currently sitting on 43% over at rotten tomatoes. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has previously been quoted to criticise the film’s inaccuracies, though these comments are in response to just a short clip that was released following the Sundance debut.

Some of Wozniak’s comments were as follows;

    Our relationship was so different than what was portrayed. I’m embarrassed but if the movie is fun and entertaining, all the better. Anyone who reads my book iWoz can get a clearer picture.

    The important thing is whether the meaning portrayed is correct. It’s ok to make up a dramatic scene but is much better if it sort of happened and had the meaning portrayed. But this is only one short clip of the movie.

It seems that anyone eagerly anticipating the formal release of jOBS is going to have to keep waiting, Open Road Films have announced that the film has been postponed until further notice.

Originally scheduled for an April release, the delay appears to be to allow more time for marketing and promotion of the film, though a new release window has not been announced.

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
