Australian-born James McTeigue (V FOR VENDETTA) has directed a new film based on the writings of American author Edgar Allan Poe and titled after his most famous work THE RAVEN. It’s a fictionalised account of the last days of Poe’s life, in which the writer is in pursuit of a serial killer whose murders mirror those in Poe’s stories.
Director McTeigue has joined forces with writers Ben Livingston and Hannah Shakespeare to create a thriller that takes considerable licence with history. John Cusack plays Poe and Alice Eve plays his love, Emily. She is kidnapped and threatened with a PIT AND THE PENDULUM style death. A Policeman played by Luke Evans joins with Poe to solve a series of bloody crimes and capture the killer.
The movie premieres in March 2012. Whet your appetite for the gothic horror with this Cusack and Eve interview footage taken at this year’s Comic-Con International in San Diego.
