Jurassic Park IV

Jurassic Park IV

‘Jurassic Park III’ went through cinemas back in 2001 and there has been talk of another sequel occasionally but nothing concrete has come through. While it still doesn’t look like this project will eventuate in the short term future there has been some news indicating that things could be getting back on track.

It is being reported that writing duo Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver are writing the script for ‘Jurassic Park IV’. The pair both worked on the surprisingly well crafted ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ and are attached to the sequel for that film in addition to a new Jurassic Park film.

This news has me somewhat optimistic. the idea of a fourth installment in the franchise hasn’t excited me previously but given the promise shown in ‘Rise’, there’s scope for this writing team do something really interesting with the new film.

Whether this announcement gets things back on track for Spielberg and his Dinosaurs we’ll have to wait and see but in the mean time Jurassic Park fans can look forward to the 3D re-release of the original film that is currently planned for a 2013 release.

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
