It seems kids these days have a range of toys and gadgets to play with in their spare time. There are also an increasing number of animated films since the first animated feature in 1995 (TOY STORY).
From pokemon to trash packs, everyone in the family surely remembers either playing, building or buying lego. A famous box or container that had plastic brick like pieces in different colours and sizes that allowed you to build your own house, boat, moat or whatever came to mind.
It seems lego just keeps getting better. With a USA February 2014 release date, it seems lego will hit the big screen with a film titled; LEGO: THE PIECE OF RESISTANCE. Here’s the synopsis:
“An ordinary Lego mini-figure, mistakingly thought to be the extraordinary MasterBuilder, is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil Lego tyrant from gluing the universe together.”
Directed by Phil Lord & Chris Miller (21 JUMP STREET) with Chris McKay (ROBOT CHICKEN). The film stars Will Ferral, Liam Neeson, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Chris Pratt and the list goes on. It’s rumoured Channing Tatum was offered a lead role, but had to decline for scheduling. Emma Stone was apparently under consideration but unfortunately didn’t make the final cast.
If Lord and Miller are able to bring their witty humor and creativity to the film, it may make it a little more interesting. I’m a little unsure of how the film will look visually and for what style they’re aiming. The trailer, when it’s released, will either convince me or give me doubts about the film. What do you think?
