The Luna Cinema in Leederville is screening the movie LION under the stars from Saturday January 21 to Wednesday January 25. If you want to see this touching tale of loss and reunion, what better way to enjoy it than at one of Perth’s premier outdoor cinema locations, the Luna Outdoor.
Based on Saroo Brierly’s memoir: “Lion: A Long Way Home” As a boy, Saroo was a cheeky and adventurous five-year-old, living with his beloved, hard-working mother and siblings in an impoverished rural township in India. One night, when out with his older brother, he fell asleep in a stationary train carriage only to be trapped on board when it departed. Days later, he arrived in Kolkata, hundreds of miles from home and entirely alone. Left to fend for himself on the overcrowded streets, Saroo eventually landed in an orphanage and was adopted by an Australian couple (Nicole Kidman, David Wenham). Lively and inquisitive, he soon adjusted to his new life. 25 years later, the adult Saroo (Dev Patel) was haunted by lucid, recurring memories of his past. When he discovered a new technology – Google Earth – he began an obsessive search for his original family.
