Luke Evans (DRACULA UNTOLD, THE HOBBIT 2 & 3) has a busy year ahead of him with “four or five” new film projects lining up…but THE CROW reboot isn’t one of them.
While rumours had been circulating that the delays to production may lead to Evans needing to back out of the project, it is now reported to be official thanks to the confirmed departure of director F. Javier Gutierrez.
Gutierrez was poised to make a “super faithful” flick, but Evans suggests that may be out the window now that the project has been handed over to another director (Corin Hardy):
“It’ll be a difference concept, a different director, a different script, and who knows where it will go?” Evans said.
“When I was in conversations with everybody it was about being as honourable to the book and as loyal to the book as possible. And that meant it would be a very different film to the one that was made with Brandon Lee. Which was a good thing in a way. I mean it wasn’t that we were trying to replicate something…we were gonna go back to the book and be as completely truthful as possible. But who knows where it’ll go [now]” he added.
New director Corin Hardy will commence the search for a new star after Sundance Festival so hopefully we’ll have some more news soon!
