New role for Tom Hanks?

Tom Hanks returned to the role of Woody in 2010’s ‘Toy Story 3’ which turned out to be a critical and financial success after a long period of time had passed since the previous instalment for the franchise, in 2010 Hanks also worked on the TV series ‘The Pacific’, and in 2011 has appeared alongside Julia Roberts in ‘Larry Crowne’, a film which he also directed.

The star is appearing in ‘Cloud Atlas’, a project which is currently filming and is directed by Tom Tykwer as well as the Wachowski’s whom have been relatively quiet from a directorial perspective since their Matrix follow-up ‘Speed Racer’. The official synopsis for ‘Cloud Atlas’ is as follows;

It is an epic story of humankind in which the actions and consequences of our lives impact one another throughout the past, present and future as one soul is shaped from a murderer into a savior and a single act of kindness ripples out for centuries to inspire a revolution.

It is now being speculated that the Oscar winner is in negotiations to take on the lead role in the new film ‘Patriot Down’, a project that would see him portraying the United States President in a film where Air Force One is shot down within air space over Pakistan, where the President finds himself on the run.

No mention of other cast members or a release date at this stage, consider this one just a rumour for now.

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
