We’ve seen him in countless comedies in the past but his new project is as big of a departure from those roles as it can get.
Zac Efron has signed on to play Ted Bundy, one of the most notorious and feared serial killers in the 1970s. He was responsible for assaulting, torturing and murdering over thirty women and girls.
Michael Werwie (A Rose Reborn) wrote the script for the thriller titled Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. The story will be told through the perspective of Bundy’s long term girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer, who initially refused to believe the accusations against her partner
Joe Berlinger, who has brought us Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 and Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, has signed on to direct the project alongside Ziad Doueiri.
Zac Efron will also take on duties as a producer with his production company (Ninjas Runnin’ Wild) partnering up with Voltage Pictures. Joining them will be Michael Costigan, who is best known for his work on Ghost in the Shell and Out of the Furnace.
Production is slated to begin in the beginning of October this year.
