Nolan’s Next?

Nolan’s Next?

With his final Batman film released last year many fans are eagerly anticipating Christopher Nolan’s next directorial project which we’ve known for a while to be called ‘Interstellar’. The news has recently come through that ‘Interstellar’ has begun filming with shooting taking place in Canada. This announcement came from both Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. who are both involved with finance and distribution of the film.

The film has an impressive cast attached to it including a couple of performers that Nolan has previously worked with. Just some of this talented cast includes Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Matthew McConaughey, Topher Grace, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, and John Lithgow.

Writing duties on the film include a screenplay from both Christopher and Jonathan Nolan, and a story by Kip Thorne who just happens to be a well-known professor who (amongst other achievements) has been recognised for making significant contributions in the fields of gravitational physics, and astrophysics.

Little is known of the story at this point however it appears to involve the opening of a wormhole close to earth and a crew of explorers who utilise the event to undertake a voyage that surpasses any capability of human space travel.

Where does it lead? We’ll have to wait until late 2014 to find out.

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
