Original Ghostbuster Cameo….

Original Ghostbuster Cameo….

They actually announced it…..

Bill Murray will appear in the new Ghostbusters film, the news recently hit the net and the reaction has been controversial to say the least. Murray who played Dr Peter Venkman in the original two films is set to appear in the new Paul Feig directed version due for release in 2016.

Murray’s involvement in any Ghostbusters sequel has been tentative at best, impossible at worst as the many incarnations of a new Ghostbusters film floated around over the last ten years or so. Hearing of his willingness to appear in the version that finally made it to filming has a few fans feeling somewhat perplexed by the decision.

Other than the fact that he’s in it, there’s no detail on how involved his role might be, and whether he’ll actually be playing Venkman or another character (Venkman seems doubtful at this point). Previous reports have revealed that Dan Akroyd will also appear in the film, as a cab driver who shares a scene with one of the new female leads.

Happy to see Murray back? Or left wondering why now if not before? Let us know how you feel about this in the comments section!

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
