(ABOVE) HER is at the Luna Outdoor from Thursday 16th January.
Okay, we’re back at work, suffering the indignities of doing What The Man Wants. We’re not relaxing in the pool, sipping an inhibition-lowering cocktail. We’re not at a day spa. We’re not at the cricket. We’re sitting at work sneakily reading this while we pretend to sort through our emails.
Here’s what you do. Pretend you’re still on holiday! Consider making the Luna Outdoor part of that scheme.
Tonight, that is to say Wednesday 15th, if you’re quick you can catch the music documentary MUSCLE SHOALS. Take it away blurb:
Located alongside the Tennessee River, Muscle Shoals is the unlikely breeding ground for some of America’s most creative and defiant music. In the 1960s, this tiny Alabama town became the unlikely source of some of the most creative and celebrated funk and soul music in American history. This compelling doco of the little studio that could, includes interviewees Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Keith Richards and Mick Jagger, Bono, Bobby Womack and of course studio founder Rick Hall.
From tomorrow night Thursday 16th Spike Jonze’s HER will play through until Wednesday 22.
Set in Los Angeles, slightly in the future, “Her” follows Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a complex, soulful man who is heartbroken after the end of a long relationship. He becomes intrigued with a new, advanced computer operating system, which promises to be an intuitive entity in its own right, individual to each user.
Music. Chatty computers. Existential anxiety about love. Where the heck else can you be as seriously entertained in the Perthosphere? So get on down to the Luna Outdoor in Leederville and experience the beanbags, the cheese platters and adult licensed ambience that your parched soul has been crying out for on these balmy, Perth evenings. Go. Go Outdoors.
