Perth movie fans, history fans, car fans and anYone interested in an opportunity that is ‘once in a lifetime’ – should converge at the Perth Cultural Centre (at the steps of the WA Museum) TODAY,Wednesday 21st October from 4pm, to celebrate what has come to be known as Back To The Future Day.
The future has arrived, that is today’s date – 21 October 2015 – is the date that Doc Brown and Marty McFly visit in their time-travelling DeLorean car in the iconic 80’s movie Back to the Future Part II. Today’s groundbreaking date is being celebrated around the world with a Facebook fan base over four million, an official countdown website, merchandise releases and special screenings of all three movies in cinemas.
Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment celebrates this once-in-a-lifetime date, as well as the 30th Anniversary of the ground-breaking first film, with a new anniversary trilogy that made its debut earlier this month on Blu-ray™ & DVD. The trilogy includes all three movies plus a new bonus disc with two hours of content (such as all-new original shorts, documentaries, two episodes from the animated series and more).
Without a doubt, the big hero of the movie is the DeLorean car time machine, and experts from the upcoming Perth Speed Fest on 13 December are predicting Perth is the place where the DeLorean will emerge on Back to the Future Day.
Greg McNeil from the Perth Speed Fest said “If my calculations are correct, at precisely 4:29pm, Wednesday 21st October, the time travelling DeLorean will emerge from its latest trip through time, and Perth will get a very special arrival on Back To the Future Day.”
People are encouraged to meet at the WA Museum (at the Perth Cultural centre, off James St in Northbridge) armed with their cameras and smart phones to witness something spectacular as 4.29pmarrives (join in the conversation at #perthspeedfestbttf ).
As part of the celebrations today the public the chance to commemorate with a photo booth featuring vintage movie props like a hoverboard, and are offering prizes for those dressed up in costume.
“We urge people to rally together to welcome the time-travelling arrival on Wednesday, and those dressed up in costume will get the best seats in the house,” said McNeil.
