Predator to continue!

Shane Black the man behind the Robert Downey, Jr starring films Iron Man 3 and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang has recently been announced to take on directing duties take for a new film in the Predator franchise!

The series kicked off in 1987 under the direction of John McTiernan, with Nimrod Antal delivering the most recent film in the series Predators. Initially it was reported that this new film would serve as a reboot however Shane Black himself has confirmed it will definitely be a continuation of the existing mythology.

While Black is also on board to write a treatment for the film, scripting duties will be handled by Fred Dekker whose previous works include several episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise, Tales from the Crypt, and unfortunately a film we’d all rather forget about, Robocop 3.

Black has been reported to call this new film an “inventive sequel”, implying that it will explore some of the existing mythology while going down its own route. With no story synopsis available at this stage, we’ll have to wait for more details as to what he’s alluding to.

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
