Prometheus 2/Alien: Paradise Lost/Something Else?

Prometheus 2/Alien: Paradise Lost/Something Else?

It seems Ridley Scott has been at it again with his Prometheus sequel currently scheduled for filming early in 2016, with another rethink on the title of his new film.

Recently it was reported that Scott had decided to rebrand his sequel to Prometheus as an Alien film, with the name Alien: Paradise Lost. However in recent film festival interviews Scott was instead referring to the film by the new name Alien: Covenant.

Reportedly directing this year’s “The Martian” with Matt Damon took Scott’s attention away from the Alien film for a short while, however he’s now back and focused on continuing the tale of Elizabeth Shaw.

The Prometheus sequel still seems to have delayed any plans for the Neill Blomkamp directed Alien 5 which was rumoured to be bringing back Ripley and Hicks in a new revision of what happened following the events of James Cameron’s Aliens.

Now with this name change to more firmly establish Prometheus in the Alien setting, it poses the question if we’ll actually get to see Blomkamp’s revised take anytime soon? Or if Scott wants to helm the overall franchise for the time being.

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
