Based on the hit off-Broadway musical – Rock of Ages tells the story of small town girl Sherrie who meets city boy Drew on the Sunset Strip as they both persue their dreams of Hollywood. Taking their inspiration from 80s hard rock music, the movie will feature music from bands such as Def Leppard, Journey, Foreigner, Poison, Whitesnake and more.
Filming has begun in Florida under the direction of Adam Shankman (Hairspray) and features an impressive cast – Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand, Mary J. Blige, Malin Akerman, Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J Blige and Tom Cruise.
The film is expected to be in cinemas early next year.

Shankman directs “Rock of Ages” from a screenplay by Chris D‘Arienzo, based on his musical. The film is being produced by Matt Weaver, Scott Prisand, Carl Levin, Tobey Maguire and Jen Gibgot, with Garrett Grant, Adam Shankman, Janet Billig Rich, Hillary Weaver, Toby Emmerich, Michael Disco and Samuel J. Brown serving as executive producers.
