DRIFT is quickly coming up to its May 2 release and earlier this week we posted our interview with Producer/Actor Myles Pollard but now we take a look at the rest of the cast Sam Worthington and Xavier Samuel.
Local boy Sam Worthington became one of the most recognizable actors in the world when he landed the role of Jake Sully in Avatar back in 2009, but Sam was already well known here in Australia from films such as Bootmen, Dirty Deeds, Somersault and Thunderstruck. Sam also went on to star other hollywood blockbusters including Terminator Salvation, Clash of the Titans, The Debt, Man on a Ledge and now DRIFT.
Xavier Samuel kicked off his acting career on TV’s McLeod’s Daughters in 2003 then went on to star in other Aussie flicks such as Newcastle, The Loved Ones before also exploding onto the world stage in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse since then he has also starred in Anonymous, A Few Best Men and last years Bait 3D.

Inspired by Australia’s surfing culture and surf brands, DRIFT is a story set on Western Australia’s spectacular and rugged coastline in the early 1970s. It begins in a remote coastal town with the two Kelly brothers, who spend their youth searching for the perfect wave. Out of necessity the family launch a backyard surf business; re‐thinking board design, crafting homemade wetsuits and selling their new surf gear out of their van. Battling killer waves, small town conservatism and hard-core criminals, the brothers persevere, daring to dream of a world where they can surf to live and live to surf. A story of passion and corruption, deadly addictions and fractured relationships, Drift tells a tale of courage and the will to survive at all odds.
DRIFT opens in cinemas on the 2nd of May, you can click here to watch the trailer. You can also click here to watch this interview on YouTube.
