Singer back to X

Singer back to X

Underneath the avalanche of Star Wars related news that was this week, there has been another news item to get excited about. Maybe not quite the same level as the megatonne of a third Star Wars trilogy being announced along with the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney, but this is still good to hear.Earlier in the week we reported that Matthew Vaughn has called it a day on the sequel to his previous film ‘X-Men: First Class’, and that he would be moving on to a new project. Disappointing to hear but the best possible replacement has been signed and that person is Bryan Singer.

Needing little introduction Singer was involved in Vaughn’s X-film, but most notably he started the entire series with X-Men 1 and the sensational X-Men 2.

X-Men: First Class 2, or otherwise known as X-Men: Days of Future Past will feature Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy back as Magento and Professor X, along with Jennifer Lawrence who’s star power has risen considerably since the previous X-film.

The new film is scheduled for a mid-2014 release.

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
