Stacey’s Top 10 Films for 2013

Stacey’s Top 10 Films for 2013

There were some great films released in 2013. It was a tough list to create, but here are my top ten films for 2013.

10. Gangster Squad.

I really enjoyed this film. I thought it was done well and definitely one I’d buy on DVD. Something about the 1940s, and Ryan Gosling.

9. Epic

I enjoy watching animation, but this film was one of my favourites for the year. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this with my family.

8. The Impossible.

An outstanding film that didn’t hold back the disastrous tsunami.

7. Warm Bodies.

Rom-Com plus zombies, what’s not to love? This film is awesomeand so is the soundtrack.

6. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

I love the franchise and had been waiting for the film to be released after I saw the first. Can’t wait to see the next installment.

5. The Way Way Back.

Fantastic cast, great script, couldn’t fault it. I love these coming of age films that don’t focus on teen drinking and promiscuity. It gives it is a sense of realism.

4. What Maisie Knew.

When you sit in the cinema for five minutes after the film has finished because you can’t stop crying it’s got to be in your top ten. Too close to home.

3. Life of Pi.

Definitely made me appreciate life after watching this film. The use of colour was outstanding. Felt like I was watching a dream.

2. The Great Gatsby.

Baz Luhrmann and Leonardo DiCaprio work fabulously together. This film has a certain style that appeals to me. I think I just love all of Baz Luhrmann’s work, thoroughly enjoyed this.

1. Drift.

It’s a WA film and I absolutely loved it! This film deserved more praise and box office intake than it was given. A great achievement from a fantastic cast and crew. Well done!

Films I’d like to give mention to that didn’t make the final cut: Captain Phillips, The Place Beyond the Pines, Django Unchained, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, World War Z, Gravity, This is the End, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Safe Haven and The Croods.

Stacey's favourite films include: Titanic (1997), Cast Away (2000), Moulin Rouge (2001), The Notebook (2004), Kill Bill vol.1 and 2 (2003, 2004), Ruby Sparks (2012) and the list goes on.
