Star Trek Series Trailer Drops

It’s happening, Trekkies, Trekkers and people who cosplay Romulans at family picnics. A new series of Trek that prequels Star Trek original recipe. If you’ve been missing a weekly fix of Starfleet boldly going—after all, the Enterprise series ended in 2005—prepare to sit back with a stein of Andorian ale and reconnect with your favourite universe.

Netflix has released the first look trailer and key art for STAR TREK: DISCOVERY. The new trailer has the Internet abuzz with the shiny images, the flashy starship designs and the new look Kilingons (i.e. haters be hating). See it below. The return of the famed franchise will premiere on Netflix everywhere except the U.S. and Canada where it will be available on CBS Access. The series will feature 15 episodes, up from the previously announced 13.

Star Trek: Discovery will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself.

Michelle Yeoh, Jason Isaacs, Anthony Rapp, James Frain are among those cast. There will be seven lead characters and in addition to the Starship Discovery there will also be the Starship Shenzhou. Original showrunners Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman (Fuller has since lightened his commitment) have decided to make First Officer Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) the lead character (who must first understand herself-see above)  rather than the captains of the Discovery or the Shenzhou. No word yet on whether fan favourites the Pah-wraiths will make an appearance.

The release date at this stage is simply Fall 2017. Or as it’s known in our southern hemisphere, Spring 2017.
