Star Trek Hits IMAX Two Days Early

Maybe Paramount is feeling generous… or maybe it’s just greedy. Either way Trekkies will be happy, with the chance to see Star Trek Into Darkness  at IMAX two days before it’s official release.

Set for release May 16th (in Australia, May 17th for USA, so with the time difference we get it almost two days before them anyway… Sweet!) IMAX will be showing the flick first. Like Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight movies, Into Darkness features a few scenes that were filmed using actual IMAX cameras which should make things nice and crisp – even on the big big screen.

With IMAX tickets costing considerably more than your standard entrance fee some are crying foul, proposing it is simply a money-making initiative (as one blogger describes: “it’s a brilliantly evil way to make money faster“).

While this may be true it is kinda exciting right?!

Sian's love for movies spawned from having a tight mother whose generosity stretched only to hiring movies once a week for entertainment. As a pre-teen Sian spent more pocket money then she earned on cinema tickets and thus sought a job at the cinema. Over the next decade she rose to be one of the greats in her backwater, six-screen cinema complex, zooming through the ranks from candy bar wench with upselling superpowers, to pasty projectionist, to a manager rocking a pencil skirt. Sian went on to study Journalism at university though feels her popcorn shovelling days were far more educational
