Capatilising on the success of this year’s Oscar winning Best Picture – The King’s Speech, Harvey Weinstein has reportedly been talking up a couple of new projects. It appears that The Weinstein Company are in talks with Quentin Tarantino about his new film, a western, that he has written and will present to the Weinsteins within a few months.
If you’ve seen Inglourious Basterds, you will have noticed a strong Sergio Leone vibe throughout the film and QT is an unabashed fan. Apparently this script, unlike Kill Bill and IB before it, has been an easy birth for the Auteur director.
News on the wire suggests that Western film legend Franco Nero (Die Hard 2, Keoma), is being hand picked by Tarantino to be a part of what is sure to be an injection of style to the genre. As he is also a big fan of John Jarrett (Wolf Creek, Next of Kin), maybe this is the project that Jarrett has been talking about for a while in interviews?
There’s no title as yet and with the death of his long time Editor Sally Menke last year, it will be interesting to see how different his style will be in light of this tragedy.
