The Great Gatsby box office for US

It seems Leonardo DiCaprio is becoming more and more handsome with age; it’s a shame he’s taking a break from acting. Having starred in the lead role in almost all the films in which he has been cast, the newest of his collection had hit theatres in the US last weekend – THE GREAT GATSBY.

Baz Luhrmann is an accomplished director (MOULIN ROUGE, ROMEO + JULIET). Originally from New South Wales, he has struck gold in Hollywood. His most recent film has had much success at the box office earning an astounding $51.1 million (that’s the US alone). The box office amount is approximately half the films budget and is DiCaprios’ second highest opening weekend gross (USA).

For director Baz Luhrmann, THE GREAT GATSBY has demolished his previous films at the box office for opening weekend gross and claimed first prize. Luhrmanns’ total unadjusted worldwide gross (for all films) is $549.8 million, which is soon to change as THE GREAT GATSBY hits Australian theatres on May 30.

Stacey's favourite films include: Titanic (1997), Cast Away (2000), Moulin Rouge (2001), The Notebook (2004), Kill Bill vol.1 and 2 (2003, 2004), Ruby Sparks (2012) and the list goes on.
