The King’s Speech makes over $20 Million at Australian Box Office

The King’s Speech has surpassed the $20 million dollar mark at the Australian Box Office. As of last weekend, the $15 million dollar period movie, about a King with a stuttering problem, made back it’s entire production costs in Australia alone.

The film has racked up $159 million at the box office and is nominated for 12 Academy Awards. While the film looks 20 times it’s budget, the great thing about the movie is the nuances that the actors have brought to the role and the light hand of Tom Hooper behind the camera makes the whole experience rewarding for the viewer.

Of the 12 awards it’s nominated for, I can see it winning Best Art Direction, Cinematography and Costume Design. If you haven’t seen it, do yourselves a favour and check it out. It’s a cracker.
