The buzz surrounding Zack Snyder’s venture into the Superman universe–”The Man of Steel”–is that they have cast the character of Perry White; the no nonsense, often-times harsh Daily Planet editor, Clark Kent employer and harbinger of Metropolis propaganda. The fact that this film is gaining momentum is pleasing, but this actor is a curious choice indeed – Lawrence “This is the Matrix” Fishburne.
I am not going to say that I do not love Lawrence Fishburne. He is a great character actor and he will bring the attitude needed to pull of the role. It may not be well received by die hard comic fans, but in the end we should be focusing on how well the film will come across as a whole. The chemistry is what is important.
This will be the first major role for Fishburne since he left CSI in June. He will join Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane in “The Man Of Steel”. I welcome Larry back to the big screen and stay optimistic until I am proven otherwise.
