The next film in the Thor series is scheduled for a release during November 2013, it has previously been announced that Kenneth Branagh will not be returning to direct the sequel, which is disappointing given his achievements with the origin film.
It has now been revealed that Patty Jenkins has been brought onboard to direct the sequel. Jenkins has previously directly the critically acclaimed film ‘Monster’ which starred Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci, as well as episodes of several TV series including ‘Entourage’, ‘Arrested Development’, and ‘The Killing’.
Given the short list of feature films that Jenkins has previously directed, it’s a little difficult to predict what he might see from her vision of the Thor character, though no doubt Marvel Studios has a clear view on where they want each of the Avenger related franchises to go.
Of course the character of Thor will be returning to screens approximately a year before appearing in the first sequel of his own franchise with the Avengers coming into cinemas in mid-2012.
