Transformers: The Last Knight 1-minute clip released

A short teaser clip of the latest in the transformers series, Transformers: The Last Knight, has been aired at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.

Here is Paramount’s official synopsis of the fifth instalment of the franchise:

“The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock). There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.”

The description for what will hopefully be the final film in the series is vague at best, but it definitely ramps up the stakes yet again. It’s already been ten years since the release of Michael Bay’s first Transformers film. Situated in the ruins of a city, the 1-minute clip seems an attempt to appeal to a younger audience, a generation used to films portraying a post-apocalyptic, dystopian future. The prominent feature of the ‘Enemy’ poster in the clip hints at government oppression. Here’s hoping the series ends with a positive bang.

Transformers: The Last Knight will be released on 23rd June, 2017.
