So the other day I reported Transformers: Dark of the Moon has been cranking out some rather insane box office figures now 5 days after release its starting to get damn impressive! In another shiny press release provided to us via Paramount Pictures they give us a bit of insight about how Transformers is tracking not only in Australia but worldwide. Check it out after the jump.

TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON, the highly anticipated third installment of Michael Bay’s Transformer franchise claimed #1 at the Australian box office on its opening weekend with an incredible four day taking of AUD$12,392,000 from 253 locations. This four day total represents the biggest opening weekend at the Australian box office this year and, together with the results from last Wednesday, takes the overall box office to an incredible AUD$15,032,000 after just five days.

TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON had an outstanding opening at the international box office this weekend, bowing in 58 markets to gross a mammoth US$210.0mn from 9,075 locations.  The third installment in the Transformers franchise shredded a host of box office records as it claimed #1 in 57 of the 58 territories it was released in and topped the opening of Transformers 2 by 51%.   70% of the overall gross was generated by 3D this weekend.  Combined with the domestic result, this release became the industry’s third highest grossing worldwide debut ever with US$372 million. The US$210 million opening weekend represented Paramount Pictures International’s biggest opening weekend ever, surpassing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull which opened with US$147 million.

When a mysterious event from Earth’s past erupts into the present day it threatens to bring a war to earth so big that the Transformers alone will not be able to save us. The third installment of the hit franchise, TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON stars Shia LaBeouf, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Patrick Dempsey, Kevin Dunn, with John Malkovich and Frances McDormand.
