So some of the main film news websites are reporting today that Disney is in talks with Director Garth Davis (Lion) to bring Tron 3 to the big screen and its starring Jared Leto. Now I’m a pretty big fan of Tron: Legacy that came out in 2010 with Joseph Kosinski (Legacy was his debut) with Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Jeff Bridges and Daft Punk doing the score so don’t get me wrong I’m always excited about the prospects of a third Tron film but its being reported that this one will be a little different.
The film hasn’t been green-lit yet but it is in development so in other words Davis pitched his idea (along with writer Jesse Wigutow) with Leto attached, Disney liked it and probably threw money at it for the script to be finalised some concept art and flesh out all the details/budgets. Leto has been attached to the film for a few years.
Its also being reported that the film will be “set in the same world” but won’t be a direct sequel to Tron: Legacy and I think that’s the disappointing part for this fan, I loved how the 2010 film ended. I’m not going to go into spoiler territory if you haven’t seen the film you best get to it.
So I’m intrigued to see what they come up with but sad we won’t see what Sam and Quorra get up to after the event’s of the last one.
