Deadline have reported that Warner Bros is looking to remake the classic film ‘The Wizard of Oz’, using the original script which was written in 1939. Further to note is that Robert Zemeckis is in talks to direct.
The last few films he directed included ‘A Christmas Carol’, ‘Beowulf’ and ‘The Polar Express’ none of which were live action, the most recent live action film he’s directed was ‘Cast Away’ in 2000.
In the current era of reboots and remakes it’s not surprising that studios would be looking back any number of years for opportunities, however with such a well regarded classic as ‘The Wizard of Oz’, any remake is bound to experience its share of controversy.
